Heres a short read on how I recommend you should soft wash your roof, but what we truly recommend is that you relax and let us do the labor!
Materials Needed
Before starting to soft wash your roof, you will need to gather the necessary materials. These include a low-pressure nozzle for your garden hose, a roof cleaning solution specifically designed for use with soft washing, a ladder, and safety equipment such as a harness and hard hat.
Make sure to check the weather forecast and plan to clean your roof on a clear, sunny day to ensure that the cleaning solution has ample time to work and doesn’t dry on the roof before it can be rinsed off.
Preparation
Before you begin, it’s important to take a few safety precautions. Make sure to secure your ladder on a level surface and use a harness to tie yourself off to the ladder to prevent falls. If you’re not comfortable working on your roof, it’s best to hire a professional.
Next, clear the area around your ladder and mark off any surrounding areas with caution tape to prevent anyone from accidentally walking into the area while you’re working.
Cleaning
Start by attaching the low-pressure nozzle to your garden hose. Then, mix your cleaning solution according to the manufacturer’s instructions and apply it to your roof using the nozzle on your garden hose.
Be sure to cover the entire roof, paying special attention to areas that are particularly dirty or mossy. Allow the solution to sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse the roof thoroughly with a low-pressure stream of water to remove all traces of the cleaning solution.
Maintenance
To keep your roof looking clean and new for longer, it’s important to maintain it properly. This includes regular inspections for damage, leaks, and moss or algae growth, as well as cleaning your gutters and downspouts to prevent water from backing up and damaging your roof.
Additionally, you should consider having your roof professionally inspected and cleaned every 2-3 years, or as needed, depending on the climate and the condition of your roof.
